The city of Antalya is built
on the rocks in 39 m altitude, in the shore of Mediterranean in front
of gulf that has the same name. The first views of Antalya’s and the
surrounding areas’, are the lowlands which are in different sizes and
take place in the area from the sea side to the Taurus Mountain Chain
that the highest point is 3086 m. The land and the sea reach each other
in the beaches that are in many kilometers length or in the precipitous
rocky places. The cheer cliffs, the precipices and especially the caves
that are near the coast which are between the Taurus Mountain Chain add
a different value to this area.
A lot of large and small rivers that fountain from the south slope of
the Taurus Mountains give fertility to the lowlands and then reach the
Mediterranean Sea. The water of these rivers is limpid and clear and
they create so beautiful waterfalls during their way and at the point
that reach to the sea, that you can not see them anywhere else.
Antalya has a rich natural plant cover also. In the sea side you can
find every tropical plant. The cactuses with giant dimension that take
place in some areas are one of the first things that attract the new
comers in Antalya. If you go away from the sea side and come to the
foot of the Taurus Mountains you can see that the dominant plant cover
is the scrubs that are peculiar to Mediterranean countries. After
scrubs you can find healthy and thick forests of every type of oak and
pine trees. In the lowlands, the cotton and sesame fields as well as
the orange, lemon and banana gardens add a distinct beauty to the area.
In Antalya the four seasons, spring, summer, autumn and winter take
place only in the calendars. As you can not live winter here. In 1985
after 60 years in Antalya snowed and hailed and this became an event
for news. During summer is warm and arid. On the other months the
climate is rainy and lukewarm. The average temperature is 18, 7° C.

became below zero ° C. Regarding the average of the last 40 years, the
